Danakil Depression 3 days

DAY 1

Addis Ababa – Semera – Lake Afdera – Ertale) 310K.M

Early morning, fly from Addis to Samara and continue the journey from Samara to Erta’Ale and lunch will be held next to Lake Afdera with a beautiful view point.
The Danakil Depression can be said to ‘begin’ here. It is one of the most spectacular and also absolutely inhospitable regions of the world.
Afternoon, proceed the journey with one of the roughest roads in the world, passing through changing landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and occasional palm lined oasis.
Walk 20 minutes to reach to the caldera to watch the dramatic action of the boiling lava. O/N camping

DAY 2

( Erta’ Ale – Ahmd Ila- Salt Desert) ( 4 hrs)

In the morning after volcano & beautiful sun rise we will proceed to Ahmed Ila with spectacular, eye- catching colors, as in the sulfur springs.
After Sun set at lake Asale, drive back to the camp. O/N camping

DAY 3

Dallol – Mekelle (Semera optional)

Morning Drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place where the localities are mining salt. Look the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, cutting in to rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You’ll drive ahead to Dallol and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal + camel caravans.

Excursion to Dallol (125 meter below sea level, one of the lowest places on earth) colorful salts mining, visit Lake Asale, follow up camel caravans and walk with ‘Afar’ people.
Drive back to Ahmed Ila and proceed Mekelle or Semera to catch the flight back to Addis.
